What do I receive in my LAYERS mint?
1 LAYER (ERC721) your and 1, 2 or 3 TEARS (ERC1155).
How many TEARS can I apply to my LAYER?
3 is the maximum number of TEARS per LAYER.
Do I need 3 TEARS?
No, you do not need 3 TEARS.
There is a different collector journey for every TEAR you apply to your LAYER. Applying 0, 1, 2 or 3 TEARS unlocks different holder opportunities.
Should I apply my TEARS?
It is your choice when and how to apply your TEARS.
Applying your TEARS impacts the visual outcome and rarity of your LAYER.
Future collector rewards will reward LAYERS with any number of TEARS applied (0, 1 2 or 3). Using the TEAR workshop on site, your final LAYER is a collaboration between you and Vhils.
When will Beta TEARS be released?
[redacted].
What is the difference between Alpha and Beta TEARS?
There is no visual difference between Alpha and Beta TEARS.
Instead, they impact your LAYER rarity — and provide different access to LAYERS collector rewards.
Alpha TEARs will be significantly more rare than Beta TEARS.
What is the rarity of my LAYER?
Each LAYER is a 1/1 artwork, using a different genesis artwork. No 2 LAYERS are alike.
Each LAYER has 6 rarity traits: background, border, last used tear, pattern and type. These traits will continue to evolve as you interact with the piece.
2 traits are revealed with each TEAR you apply.
What is the utility of my LAYER?
Your LAYER determines your journey as part of Vhils’ collector community and your access to his calendar of exclusive art projects, on and off chain.
Through staking, burning and merging NFTs at various stages of reveal, LAYERS can be converted into physical artworks, NFTs and experiences.
Is there a roadmap?
Art doesn't need a roadmap.
LAYERS are the centre of Vhils’ artistic ecosystem.

How were LAYERS made?
Over 9 months, the Vhils and DRP studio teams developed the concept and game theory behind LAYERS - the first participatory NFT art project.
Using photographs from Vhils’ archive, DRP developed a custom algorithm to digitally create artworks in his physical ‘Billboards’ style.
LAYERS stands apart in its aim to bridge traditional and web3 art markets, bringing together collectors in a token-based ecosystem centred around a single artist’s practice.
When will staking become available?
[redacted].
What are the rewards for staking?
There will be 2 types of staking.
1: Stake for TEARS.
2: Stake for Rewards (including prints, exclusive digital artworks and more).
Are there other benefits for staking?
LAYERS staking is non-custodial (meaning it remains in your wallet, with updated metadata).
OpenSea and DRP interactivity, holder number and collections will not be impacted.
You will still be able to TEAR while staking.
